A
former Prisoner of War, Bert Trautmann
won the hearts of the English people
through hard work, dedication and
bravery. Manchester City made the then
bold decision to sign a German, shortly
after the 2nd World War.
Trautmann
went on to play well over 500 games for
the club, helping his side triumph in
the 1956 FA Cup Final. One of the
most notebale memories of Trautmann, was
the 1956 FA Cup Final, when he played
the last 15 minutes of the game with a
broken neck!
